About the author

Hi I'm Thandiwe

I'm an Erasmus Mundus alumna from Botswana, and I have written my way into scholarship funding three times. A fully funded Erasmus Mundus scholarship for my master's in Transition, Innovation and Sustainability Environments, studied across Portugal, Ireland, Poland and Austria between 2021 and 2023. A partial scholarship for an LL.M at University College Dublin, which I turned down. And the partial scholarship I did take, for my LL.M in Law and Digital Economy at Universidade Católica Portuguesa in Lisbon.

Fun fact about me: I didn't graduate at the top of my undergraduate class, I got a second class, and my background was in law, yet I still got into a programme that explored systems science, transdisciplinary research, socio-cultural studies, and economics. And I graduated with a first class GPA in that degree, and later again in my LL.M.

Honestly, my Erasmus Mundus journey was a blast! Highly recommend it, 10/10. I created this workbook to help set you on your own learning adventure. Inspired by a recent workshop I held for young people, I wanted to bring the full workshop experience to anyone who couldn't be in the room. The same process. The same exercises. Just at your own pace.

Frequently asked questions

No. The workbook is designed for first-time applicants. It walks you through every stage from scratch, finding the right programme, drafting your motivation letter, and building your Europass CV. If you've applied before, it will still help you sharpen what didn't work.
Yes. I applied with a law degree to a programme exploring sustainability and systems sciences and was accepted into the programme. Worksheet 1 has a specific section on turning adjacent experience into a compelling fit.
Not at all. Erasmus Mundus is open to applicants worldwide, and the workbook is designed for anyone who wants a structured, honest guide to applying. The examples and context are drawn from a Southern African perspective, because that's where I come from, which may feel especially familiar if you're from the region.
An instant download of the fully fillable PDF workbook, licensed to your name. Three worksheets: Find Your Programme, Letter of Motivation, and The Europass CV. No printing required, you just type directly into the document and save as you go.
You send me your motivation letter or essay along with your filled-in workbook at least three days before we speak, so ideally by the Sunday or Monday, since calls run on Thursdays. I read both beforehand, and we spend the session going through what is working, what isn't landing yet, and what to change before you submit. The workbook itself is useful context, which is why I ask for both.
